Problems about Detection Techniques for Rotavirus Antigen


Abstract
The Rotavirus is very important causative agent for autumn diarrhea disease during first five years age.
The E.M. was the original diagnostic technique since Bishop and his colleagues reported the association of the second virus with acute gastroenteritis in 1974. Thereafter, techniques for diagnosis of HRV infection rests on the demonstration of the virus in the feces or on serologic methods have been developed at many centers, such as IEM, cell culture, CF, IF, and ELISA.
The author is reviewed about above mentioned techniques and discuss about reliability for its technique including cross-activity, false positivity, and specificity so that more accurate interpretation of the result applying suspicious patients to the clinician and pathologists.
